Heat- Up Preparation: Preparing the Furnace for Its First Breath

Preparing the furnace is the essential stage between construction completion and the first firing of the furnace. During this phase, our teams:

• Thoroughly clean the furnace, regenerators, feeders, and flue systems,
• Remove dust, debris, and residues from refractory surfaces,
• Perform sealing and temporary insulation works,
• Install fiber joints, thermal expansion indicators, and temperature sensors.

This meticulous preparation ensures safe heat-up, controlled expansion, and long furnace lifetime.

Heat-up: Controlled Heating for Perfect Start-up

Following atrampaj, the furnace is heated from ambient to operating temperature (≈1550°C) under a defined ramp-up program.

GTR executes all works according to Saint-Gobain and Verallia technical standards, including:

• Hot sealing and thermal jointing,
• Hot repair and surface corrections,
