Insulation and hot sealing applications are critical processes to ensure the efficient, safe, and long-lasting operation of glass melting furnaces.
During the installation phase, refractory blocks are placed at room temperature, leaving millimetric gaps to allow for thermal expansion. After the furnace is heated, these gaps are inspected through endoscopic controls. Detected openings are treated with a hot sealing process. In this method, special materials are applied to close the gaps, ensuring tightness and maintaining structural integrity.
Insulation applications are carried out by placing a layer of glass wool on the upper part of the furnace crown and covering it with a special mortar. This layer prevents heat losses, increases the furnace’s energy efficiency, reduces fuel consumption, and provides long-term cost advantages for the operation.
At GTR, our expert teams and use of high-quality materials ensure that insulation and hot sealing works maximize the performance of glass furnaces.
Benefits of the Application
Insulation and hot sealing applications play a key role in maintaining the efficiency, safety, and structural integrity of glass melting furnaces. GTR performs these operations to eliminate heat losses, improve energy efficiency, and protect refractory structures during furnace operation. By sealing expansion gaps and applying high-quality insulation materials, we help reduce fuel consumption, enhance operational reliability, and support long-term furnace performance.
