Increased operational efficiency through regenerator cleaning.

Although glass melting furnaces are designed to operate continuously, variations in the purity levels of raw materials may cause blockages in the regenerators over time. In particular, accumulations of sulfates lead to such blockages, reducing the furnace’s thermal efficiency, increasing energy consumption, and raising the cost per ton. Regenerator cleaning is an effective method to prevent these issues, enhancing both production capacity and operational efficiency.

With this application:

  • The thermal efficiency of the furnaces increases, reaching the same temperature with less energy.
  • Unscheduled repairs are avoided, enabling longer uninterrupted operation.
  • Fuel consumption decreases, production costs are reduced, and overall profitability improves.

The cleaning process is generally carried out using two methods:

  • Thermal Method: Burners are placed under the regenerator chambers and the temperature is gradually increased in a controlled manner. During this process, sulfates begin to melt and sink to the bottom of the regenerators. They are collected in a sand pit, dissolved again, and then safely removed. This procedure can be performed simultaneously or consecutively several times without interrupting production.

  • Mechanical Method: First, the clogged checkers inside the regenerators are identified. Then, by extending the rod and applying the evirtim method, these passages are opened and cleaned. As a result, the regenerators regain their efficiency.

GTR carries out regenerator cleaning with advanced technology equipment and an experienced engineering team. This meticulously executed process enables furnaces to operate in a safe, efficient, and long-lasting manner.
