Project Summary

GTR carried out the cold repair works of the C Furnace at Şişecam’s Yenişehir production facility.
The project scope included refractory demolition, refractory installation, atrampaj (cleaning & preparation), and heat-up support.

This project marked the first time in Şişecam’s history that an external contractor was assigned to perform the glass draining process. The furnace’s central positioning within the factory layout posed significant challenges for the draining operation; however, GTR’s field experience and planning capabilities enabled the safe and controlled completion of the demounting activities.

Despite material supply delays caused by the pandemic, the GTR team accelerated progress through additional manpower and optimized shift planning, completing the refractory installation 12 days ahead of schedule. This ensured that the project was delivered in full alignment with Şişecam’s planned timeline.

Result

All works were executed safely and in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards despite pandemic-related restrictions, and the furnace was successfully commissioned.
This project demonstrated GTR’s proactive, solution-focused approach and strong project management capability under challenging conditions.
